Candy Popcorn Balls
This Candy Popcorn Balls recipe combines two favorite snacks - popcorn and candy coated chocolate pieces. Making the popcorn balls is similar to making rice crispy treats with popcorn.
Popcorn Candy Balls
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
1 (16 ounce) package large marshmallows
2 cups popped popcorn
1 cup candy-coated chocolate pieces
Directions
In a saucepan over low heat, combine the butter and marshmallows. Stir until the marshmallows are melted and smooth.
Add the popcorn and candies and mix until evenly coated with marshmallows.
Allow the mixture to cool enough to touch and then grease your hands with butter and form into balls.
Here's my recipe for making easy microwave popcorn.
Easy Microwave Popcorn
1 plain brown paper sandwich bag (10 1/2 x 5 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches)
1/4 cup unpopped popcorn
1 tbsp canola oil
Salt to taste
Measure out the popcorn in 1/4 cup measuring cup. Pour the measured oil right over the corn in the cup. Dump into the bag and fold the top about 1/2 inch 2 or 3 times. Place in the microwave with the folded side up and microwave on high about 4 minutes.
Remove and sprinkle with salt if desired. For making these popcorn ball recipes you might not wish to add salt at all but I do.
Depending on the popcorn ball recipe you're using you might need to repeat the above recipe several times to get the desired quantity.
For this Candy Popcorn Balls recipe one batch will probably be enough.
