Chocolate Cookie Recipe

This is a simple chocolate cookie recipe that delivers the chocolate fix via cocoa. The chopped nuts add a crunch factor that I like so don't leave them out.

Put a batch of these in your cookie jar.

Chocolate Cookie Recipe

1 1/4 cup butter, softened
2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. Vanilla
2 cup unsifted all-purpose flour
3/4 cup Hershey's cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 cup finely chopped nuts*

*I use pecans. You can use 1/2 cup pecans and 1/2 cup walnuts. Or any combination of nuts you desire.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Cream the butter and sugar in large mixer bowl. Add the eggs and vanilla; blend well.

Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; blend into creamed mixture. Stir in nuts, if desired. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 9 minutes. (Do not overbake. Cookies will be soft. They will puff during baking but will flatten upon cooling.)

Cool on the cookie sheet for a minute or so and then transfer to a cooling rack.

This chocolate cookie recipe makes 4 1/2 dozen.
