Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar Recipe

Chocolate and peanut butter is a natural combination to me and this chocolate peanut butter bar recipe uses the combination in a delicious way.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar Recipe

1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 egg
2 Tbsp. water
1 1/4 c. flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

2 sq. (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate
2 Tbsp. hot water
3 Tbsp. margarine or butter
1 c. powdered sugar
3/4 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Mix the sugars, shortening, peanut butter and egg. Stir in water, flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and chocolate chips. Spread in greased 13 x 9-inch pan and bake for 20 minutes. While still warm, spread top with Chocolate Glaze.

Heat chocolate and margarine over low heat until melted; remove from heat. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat in water, 1 teaspoon at a time, until smooth and of desired consistency. Spread on warm cookies. Sprinkle top of glaze with 1/2 cup chopped salted peanuts. Cut into bars about 1 1/2 x 1-inch.
