Cookie Gifts
Creating tasty cookie gifts for that special someone shows you really care. Nothing
says loving like something from the oven. I forgot who says that, but it's true. Cookies are like that.
Homemade cookies show you put in time and effort on the gift but even a store bought cookie
will be much appreciated by the recipient. Like all gifts it's the thought that counts.
Everybody likes cookies.
Since I've started the Cookie Recipe Club I've been taking cookies to work most every week.
Even that regularity has not reduced the enthusiasm of my co-workers when I bring in a batch.
(Most of these cookie gifts are recipe tests. I never take a failure though.)
Who said you need a reason to give someone a gift? Cookies are perfect when you just want
to brighten someone's day.
Creating Your Cookie Gifts
Themes
Even though the cookies I take to work are really recipe tests, a cookie as a gift should really
be themed for the event.
Whether it's for a birthday, new baby, get well soon, congratulations, thank you or whatever
if the gift fits the theme it's more appropriate and memorable.
Once you have decided on the theme you can then make a cookie type selection and if decorating,
decorate your cookies accordingly.
Cookie Type
There are many, many types of cookies such as bars, drop cookies, cut outs etc...
It's not critical but it's a consideration that the selection of the cookie type fit the theme
of your gift.
For the Fourth of July I'm going to make a pan of rice krispies treats and decorate it as an
American Flag before cutting it.
If it looks good I'll take it to work and cut it into bars there.
Cookie shapes are tailor made for gifts. Select an appropriate cookie cutter that fits
the theme and you already have a gift whether you choose to decorate it or not.
Cookie Gift Containers
Another consideration for your gift is the type of container you present it in.
A plain Ziploc bag would be so-so but you can greatly enhance your presentation and the
value of the gift by putting a little thought into your container.
A cookie basket is certainly a step up from a baggie. Place an assortment of cookies in a
decorated basket and you have really enhanced your gift.
Cookie baskets also will allow you to add other gift items that fit the theme because of their size.
Containers that would be useful to the recipient will remind them of the gift for time to come.
Perfect for a coffee break buddy!
A contemporary mug filled with a delicious cookie, chocolate candy bar, snack mix, individual
servings of cappuccino, coffee, hot chocolate, teas and a chocolate stir spoon.
The edibles will disappear fast but the mug will last a long time and will always be a
reminder to your friend of the gift.
A cookie bouquet attractively placed in a flower vase is another example.
Purchasing Cookie Gifts
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the most talented when it comes to crafting.
However I have an alternate whenever I want a special gift for that special someone.
It's the Internet!
I've never seen cookies especially crafted for gifts in my local bakeries. However there's
plenty on the Internet. Cookie baskets, cookie bouquets, giant fortune cookies...
You name it and you can find it. Just do a search on any of the above and see for yourself.
Make someone special in your life happy with a cookie gift.
