Cream Cheese Frosting RecipeThis is a cream cheese frosting recipe in that it uses cream cheese instead of the butter or shortening you would normally find in a frosting recipe. The optional lemon zest adds additional flavor. Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese In a mixer, fitted with a paddle, add the cream cheese. Beat the cheese until it is light and fluffy. Beat in the powdered sugar until smooth. Add milk and vanilla. Beat until smooth. If the frosting is too thick, thin with a little more milk or if it's to thin add more confectioners sugar. Fold in the lemon zest if used. Spread on cookies that or fully cooled and garnish with a pecan half if you like. Your frosting will have a purer white color if you substitute clear vanilla for the vanilla extract. You can also add food coloring if you desire another color. Change the vanilla extract to any flavor extract you would like and you have a completely different frosting.
