Custom Fortune Cookie

Creating a custom fortune cookie is only limited by the imagination. Custom messages come to mind of course but you can also experiment with custom shapes or designs and even custom colors.

When you make your own fortune cookies you're in control. They're your cookies and you do with them as you please.

Cookie Size

You can start with size if you like. The cookies you get in a Chinese restaurant are manufactured and the manufacturers seem to have settled on a conventional size.

You're certainly not limited to that!

I'm limited by the size of my baking sheets. I can only go to a 10-inch custom fortune cookie. But if I wanted I could buy larger sheets and then I'm only limited by the size of my oven.

I wonder about teeny tiny fortune cookies? Hmmm.

The Messages

Making your own custom fortune cookies certainly means that you get to create the messages that go inside.

Your custom fortune cookie message can be for any occasion just by creating a message for that occasion. It can be a "happy birthday wish" or a "get well soon" or just "have a nice day".

You can individualize the message for friends or loved ones. Whatever message you want to include.

Make a large enough custom fortune cookie and you could even enclose your business card or an advertisement for your business if you like.

How unique is that? Do you think people would remember your message?

What About Colors?

Most fortune cookies are made from a similar batter and are browned in the oven. That's the color they wind up. Brown.

But what if you added some food coloring to the batter? I haven't tried it yet but to me it's a very interesting thought.

Instead of Easter eggs you could have Easter fortune cookies. With an appropriate Easter message inside of course!

Flavoring

Conventional cookies are flavored with almond extract. Just change that and you've created a custom fortune cookie.

You can add additional flavoring from the outside with a frosting or an icing or by dipping in chocolate.

Surprise your family or friends at dinner one night with a custom fortune cookie seating place holder in each ones favorite color and favorite flavor.

Just pipe the names onto the cookie. There's also edible ink that you could write the names with.

Different Shapes

I don't know how the particular shape of a fortune cookie came about but in your kitchen you can make your custom fortune cookie any shape you like.

You could leave them flat. I can envision a great dessert with flat fortune cookies stacked with some delicious filling in between.

Their shape holding ability also lends them to making great dessert bowls. Just place the hot cookie in a small bowl or muffin tin. Be sure the bottom is flat so they'll stand on their own.

When they cool and crisp up you have a super edible container for all sorts of good stuff.

Like I said earlier creating custom fortune cookies is only limited by your imagination. I would like to add that they're only useful when you use them to brighten some one else's life. Cookies are like that.
