Monster Cookie Recipe
I've never made this Monster Cookie Recipe and I don't know when I'll have an occasion to do so. Maybe at Christmas time for Christmas gift baskets or something. I think this cookie must have gotten its name from the size of the batch rather than some other characteristic. I wonder if it can be scaled down? "Does the cookie monster like monster cookies?"
Monster Cookie Recipe1 doz. Eggs 1 lb. margarine 2 lb. brown sugar 1/4 cup vanilla 3 lb. peanut butter 8 tsp. baking soda 18 cups rolled oats 1 lb. chocolate chips 1 lb. chopped nuts 1 lb. M&M candies 4 cups white sugar
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In very large bowl mix the eggs, butter, brown sugar, white sugar and vanilla. It needs a lot of stirring. Add the peanut butter and mix well. Add the baking soda, oats, and nuts. Stir in the chocolate chips and the M&M's. Shape into 2-inch balls and flatten onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Don't let the cookies get too brown. This monster cookie recipe makes a bunch. Enough for a crowd but it keeps well in the cookie jar. Monster Cookie Recipe UpdateThe Monster Cookie Recipe can be scaled down! I was chatting with a cookie-baking friend of mine and she gave me this version. She said she'd never seen the version I have. Her monster cookie recipe has almost the same ingredients except in smaller quantities. 4 eggs 3/4 cup margarine 2 cups sugar 1 1/2 cups brown sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 cups peanut butter 3 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 7 cups rolled oats (quick) 3/4 cup milk chocolate chips 3/4 cup pecans, chopped 3/4 cup M and M candies
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Beat the eggs, margarine, sugars, vanilla and peanut butter together until nice and creamy. In another bowl mix the baking soda, salt, and oatmeal together until they are well combined. Add the oatmeal mixture into the peanut butter mixture and mix the two together. Add the chocolate chips and the pecans and stir until well blended. Shape into 2-inch balls and flatten onto a greased cookie sheet. Press M and M candies into the top of the unbaked cookies. Bake at 350 F for 10-12 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool for 5 minutes or so on the cookie sheet and then remove them to a cooling rack to cool completely. The recipe can be scaled down! Now I just wonder if they can be frozen? I guess I'll just have to try that myself. :) This Monster Cookie Recipe will make about 40 monster cookies which is much more manageable for me.
