Old Fashioned Oatmeal Cookie Recipe

This cookie is good anytime of year but they are especially nice during holidays or as cookie gifts for friends and family. Learn By Watching Online Videos By Experts. Old Fashioned Oatmeal CookiesIngredients1 cup raisins Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Simmer the raisins and water over medium heat until the raisins are nice and plump, maybe 15 minutes. Drain the raisins and reserve all the liquid. If it's necessary add enough water to the reserved liquid to measure 1/2 cup. Mix the shortening, white sugar, eggs and vanilla extract thoroughly. Stir in the reserved raisin liquid. Blend in the remaining ingredients. Drop by cookie scoop (Consistent size is important!) about 2 inches apart onto half sheet pans lined with a silpat baking mat. Bake the cookies for about 8 to 10 minutes or until they are light brown. DO NOT OVERBAKE! Allow the cookies to cool a few minutes on the sheet pan and then move them to a non-stick cooling rack to cool completely. This cookie recipe has always worked perfectly for me. The fact that it uses shortening instead of butter and the relatively high oven temperature means they spread just right before setting up. The links below are to the cookie baking equipment I use.
