Oreo Cookie Recipe
The cookies I made from this Oreo cookie recipe didn't look anything like the commercial
version but the taste is surprisingly close.

1 box Devil's Food Cake Mix
2 Eggs
2 tablespoons Water
2 tablespoons Oil
1/2 cup Cocoa Powder
1 Envelope Unflavored Gelatin Powder
1/4 cup Cold Water
1 cup Shortening
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 pound plus one cup Powdered Sugar
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
Combine the cake mix, eggs, water, oil, and cocoa powder until well mixed. Form the dough into balls and place on a greased cookie sheet. Flatten each ball.
Bake at 400F for 8-9 minutes.
Remove the cookies from the cookie sheet, place on paper towels and flatten again with the bottom of a glass.
Let the cookies cool for 20-25 minutes.
Soften the gelatin powder in the cold water. Place in microwave and heat until transparent. Beat the shortening until fluffy, slowly adding the vanilla and powdered sugar.
Beat in the completely cooled gelatin mixture. Shape the filling into small balls. Place a ball on a cookie and place another cookie on top. Press gently to flatten.
