Toffee Bars
Like so many cookie bars this Toffee Bars recipe has a delicious shortbread crust. You get the great taste of toffee without the hassle of making toffee. Add some to your Christmas cookie tray.
Toffee Bars Recipe1 cup butter, softened 1 cup packed brown sugar 1 egg yolk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 6 (1.55 ounce) bars milk chocolate 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar together. Beat in the egg yolk and vanilla. Gradually add the flour and salt, beating until smooth. Press the shortbread mixture into a greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan. Bake the shortbread crust at 350 degrees for 17-19 minutes or until light golden brown. Immediately place the chocolate bars on top and return to the oven for 1 minute. Spread the melted chocolate over the bars and sprinkle with pecans. Follow the recipe as written and you can't go wrong. They're easy, yummy and they also dress up your Christmas cookie tray.
